How to Use Senna For Constipation Relief

It is known that Egyptians used senna tea to relieve constipation. This tea is used for medium and chronic conditions of constipation. It is the chemicals anthraquinones that provide its strong action on your colon walls. Senna is the second best herb to use for chronic constipation because it creates strong peristalic action. It is readily available in health food stores or on the Internet.

Only use senna for a short time, 1- 1½ week. It is not healthy to use it for a long time, since its action moves fecal matter through your colon quickly. This quick action prevents absorption of nutrients by your colon depriving you of necessary minerals and vitamins.

Use senna only in amounts that produce the required bowel movement and stool softness to relieve your constipation. Start with small amounts and increase your amount slowly.

How to Use Senna For Constipation Relief

Senna is sold Over-the-Counter under the name Correctol®, ExLax®, Senokot®, and Smooth Move. Senokot also contain docusate sodium - a stool softener - an added benefit when hard, dry stools may cause discomfort.

Senna Tea with Potato peels

You can also prepare senna tea as follows:

Buy some senna tea at a health food. Place a tea bag into 1 ½ cups of distilled water and steep. Then, add the peel of a whole red potato. Also, add a couple slices of potato meat. Add to this, a teaspoon of wheat or oat bran and flax seed.

Simmer this combination, strain it and drink the liquid. This will give constipation relief for some of the more difficult cases of constipation. Remember the longer you simmer this combination the stronger the tea will be. Start with a 5-10 minutes and then work up to 15-20 minutes but you need to experiment with the time.

When you drink senna tea, drink only 2-3 oz. at a time and drink it only after it has cooled down. It has less of a cramping action when you drink it cool.

Senna Tea with Peppermint

Here is another senna tea you can prepare.

1 teaspoon of senna tea leaves
½ teaspoon of peppermint leaves.

Boil 8 oz of distilled water, turn the heat off, stir in the herbs. Turn the heat off and cover the glass container. Let tea simmer for 3-10 minutes.

Add honey to improve taste and some powered vitamin C if you have it.

Look for formulas that have a small amount, 1/10 of a part, of fennel, anise, or ginger to reduce any cramping that might occur with senna.

Do not drink seena tea or capsule if you have any type of colon disease, stomach pain, diarrhea, or are pregnant.

Senna Pod Tea with Prunes.

Senna Pods are milder than the leaves since the do not contain the resin. It is the resin in the senna leaves that causes griping in your colon.

If available, use around 8 pods. Heat some distilled water. Place the pods into the water for 5-10 minutes. Strain the tea and add 3-4 dried prunes or chopped prunes. Let cool and eat the prunes during the day or drink and eat a few prunes just before you go to bed. Drink only a couple ounces of the senna liquid at one time. If cramping or griping occurs, reduce the amount of tea you drink.

There you have it. You can get constipation relief with senna herb by using it in different ways.

Simple No Bake Chocolate Macaroon Recipe

This recipe was a favorite of my sister and I. We loved it when my mom would make these. When we were old enough to cook, the house always smelled like chocolate macaroons. I think we made this recipe about a couple of times a week. They are very easy to make and super yummy to eat! Another thing I like about this recipe is that you don't use a lot of dishes, so clean-up is a breeze as well. These cookies are great if you are in a pinch and need to make something delicious in a hurry. Another great thing is the ingredient list is very short and most things I'm sure you will be able to find in your very own kitchen.

I hope you enjoy making these macaroons as much as I know you will enjoy eating them.

What you need to make the macaroons:

Simple No Bake Chocolate Macaroon Recipe

2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup milk

6 tbsp cocoa

1/2 cup fine shredded coconut

3 cups oatmeal

1-2 cookie sheets waxed paper

1. Combine the first four ingredients together in a large pot and bring to a boil for about 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.

2. Take pot off of stove and add the coconut and oatmeal. Mix until everything is coated.

3. Place on a wax paper lined cookie sheet by heaping tablespoon-fulls. To have these cookies ready quickly, cool in refrigerator, or leave and let cool to room temp.

Note: You may need to double batch these cookies as they will disappear fast!!!!

Ancient Greek Food - Olives

Today, you go to the store and buy a little container of olives. You can get them in all different shapes sizes colors, and more. You can buy them with pimentos in them or not. Many wonder how this food became such an important part of Greek culture and large part of their diet.

Ancient Greeks used olives as there main source of fat instead of meat from animal because they thought it was an unhealthy way of getting fat, since the barbarians (non Greeks) ate that way. In actuality, the barbarians ate meat and their products such as milk and cheese because they were nomadic and had no way of growing an olive tree or preparing olives if they saw any.

Preserving olives was possible because there was salt everywhere! Since Ancient Greece was a huge island basically, salt was easily accessible and allowed them to preserve olives with ease.

To preserve their olives, first ancient Greeks would gather them while they where not ripe. They left them in eater that they changed every 12 hours with water that contains wood ash and then again cleared the water. It might have taken a week. To decrease the time sometimes they would cut them with a knife. They, oil would come forth from the olives but this was just used to help preserve them. They were then kept in wine, vinegar, and salty water.

Olive oil was created to help preserve the olives. Olive oil was a great source of the Ancient people's diet because it was their main source of fat. You might think that fish was a main source of their diet, but these things were very expensive so common people mainly just had olive oil. It is not as it is today where people eat a large variety of food no matter who they are. Ancient Greece was a very socially unequal place.

If you ever dip bread in olive oil, you are carrying out the actions of an aristocratic meal. In ancient times, common Greeks mostly ate porridge and not bread for carbohydrates. Bread was a lot of work to make and was not a common food among them.

Today, olives are eaten by anyone who has a few bucks and can walk or drive to a store. Not so in the days of past. Still, ancient Greeks still figured they could turn tiny strange spherical objects on a tree into a delicious and nutritious food for all of the Mediterranean.

Dangers Of Energy Drinks

You seem them advertised all over the place. Energy drinks can be found everywhere from health food stores to your common supermarket. The claims associated with these drinks range from the sublime to the preposterous. Yet, millions of Americans are buying these high powered pick-me-ups on a regular basis without giving even a single thought to how good or bad these drinks really are.

The truth is, not all energy drinks are the same. While many of the ingredients are common among them, each drink has its own little twist to it. And reading the labels of these drinks isn't going to help the average consumer much if they don't know what to look for.

The problem with many of these energy drinks is not what you know is in them but what you don't know or aren't familiar with. While one of the most common ingredients in these drinks is caffeine, this is only the tip of the iceberg as far as problems go. And yes, caffeine, especially in large quantities, is dangerous as it raises your blood pressure to begin with, not to mention other problems associated with the use of caffeine.

Dangers Of Energy Drinks

But what about the other common ingredients in energy drinks, the ones you probably never heard of? We are just beginning to learn of the problems associated with some of these ingredients, especially when mixed with other things, such as drugs.

To give you an example of what I am talking about, guarana, which is a very popular ingredient in many energy drinks, is a central nervous system stimulant. What you don't know is that consuming these drinks and then mixing them with drinks containing ephedrine or diet pills can be very dangerous.

Another popular ingredient in these drinks is taurine, which is actually something that we naturally get from foods that contain vitamin B6. We normally get more than enough taurine in out diet and the extra amount that we get from these drinks, depending on how much we consume, can become toxic in our systems.

But even worse than what we know about the ingredients in these energy drinks that can be harmful, especially if mixed with other items, is what we don't know. The FDA has all but admitted that many of the ingredients in most popular energy drinks have not been fully tested as to their degree of "safeness." This is not to say that these ingredients are good or bad, simply that we don't know. When you combine these factors with what we do know, that caffeine and some ingredients in these drinks can be harmful, it is almost like playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded revolver to your head, especially if you're like most people who consume energy drinks. It is common knowledge that most energy drink consumers are not casual users and consume large quantities of these drinks. This fact just makes the consumption of these drinks that much more dangerous.

For what it's worth, there have been deaths reported, though not many, because of caffeine overdose from these drinks. At the very least, this should at least get energy drink consumers to drink in moderation until the FDA has had time to fully study the effects of these drinks and the ingredients in them.

Filipino Recipes - Pork Tocino - Pinoy Food

Tocino is a very popular processed food originating from the province of Pampanga. It is a very delicious recipe that you can prepare on any given day. The sweet and salty taste makes this recipe a favorite for kids. My son, for one, loves the pork tocino so much. Not only Filipinos find this dish delectable. Some foreigners have also come to love the taste after being introduced to it.

This cured meat product is a native Filipino delicacy. It is comparable to the ham and bacon prepared in western countries. The name tocino is a Spanish word and is used to describe cured meat or bacon. If you are a business-minded type of person, you can make this recipe and sell your finished product so that you can earn extra money.

Ingredients:

Filipino Recipes - Pork Tocino - Pinoy Food

4 kilos of pork round or shoulder butt (pigue or kasim) 1 cup pineapple juice 3 cups sugar 1 cup water 2 teaspoons of curing salt 4 teaspoons of phosphate 2 tablets ascorbic acid (crushed) 1/2 cup anisado wine 1/4 cup crushed garlic 1/2 cup rock salt red food color (optional)

Cooking Procedure:

Across the grain, slice the pork into 1/4 inch thick cuts then place inside the refrigerator. Mix water and phosphate. Using a non-reactive bowl, mix the phosphate solution, curing salt, and rock salt. Stir well then coat the meat completely by tossing. Pour in the remaining ingredients and mix well. Cure for 8-10 hours at room temperature or 1-2 days inside the refrigerator. Place inside polyethylene bags. For this preparation, you can have 10 packs with 1/2 kilo each. Keep frozen if necessary.

St Patrick's Day Party Punch Drinks - Green Leprechaun Punch

A St. Patrick's Day party punch will be one of the first things your guests notice, so you want to make sure your punch won't disappoint them. This St. Paddy's Day Leprechaun party punch will be a hit with young or old. This Leprechaun party punch recipe is different from the usual "sherbet and soda" punch recipes, and it is a difference your guests will enjoy. This recipe is for a non-alcoholic punch that can easily be converted with a bottle of one additional ingredient

A nice "extra touch" for your punch is to have a couple theme-shaped ice blocks floating in the punch bowl. Shamrock-shaped ice blocks would look perfect. Use aluminum foil shamrock-shaped cupcake molds that you can find at your local grocery or party supply store. Fill them with water, add a few drops of green food coloring, cover with clear wrap and freeze them. Voila'! green shamrock ice blocks to float in your Leprechaun punch.

Leprechaun St. Paddy's Day Party Punch

St Patrick's Day Party Punch Drinks - Green Leprechaun Punch

Serves approximately 30 - 6oz. cups

Ingredients:

2 ea. - 2-litre bottles Ginger Ale**
60oz. Pineapple juice 2 ea.
12 oz. cans frozen orange juice concentrate*
3 ea. - 3oz. boxes Lime Jello/gelatin mix 21/2 cups sugar

*put the OJ concentrate in the refrigerator instead of the freezer so they will be thawed/softened when you are ready to use them

**put Ginger Ale in the refrigerator to chill

Prep:

Early prep: Mix the boxes of lime Jello mix into a quart of hot water, stir until completely dissolved. Set aside to cool. When cool, add 5 cups cold water, OJ concentrate, and sugar. Stir until well mixed, then refrigerate until time to put out the punch bowl for the party.

Party Prep: Pour the pre-prepped liquid gelatin/OJ in the punch bowl first, and then add the chilled Ginger Ale and pineapple juice, and stir until well mixed. Crushed ice can be added if desired. Add 1 or 2 shamrock ice blocks and it is ready to serve.

And that is all there is to making a great St. Patrick's Day Punch. This St. Paddy's Day Leprechaun party punch will be the hit of your party that your guests will remember all year long. (they will expect more Leprechaun party punch next year too)

Whilst you won't find the hype and shopping madness of Western countries, in major cities you'll see lights, trees and Christmas decorations on the streets and in stores. Christmas Day is not even a bank holiday in China, although it is in Hong Kong and Macao. Whether this is just part of the Chinese interest in Western culture, or a sales ploy by the big stores, who can say?

Here is a short list of some of the ways passive aggressive men wreak havoc in a relationship. Some of these situations may sound familiar to you.

• Lack of Responsibility and Excuses - People who display the traits associated with this disorder very often make excuses for everything. They often refuse to take responsibility for their own actions, and they have a tendency to blame things that they are responsible for on other people - they often blame their wives and girlfriends for things these women have nothing to do with.

• Learned Helplessness and Victimhood - Passive aggressive men often play the "poor me" or victim role. This goes hand in hand with a lack of personal accountability.

• Obstructionism and Interference - If you have noticed that your husband or boyfriend tends to seem to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or has a tendency to interfere in things he has no business interfering in, then it's likely he has some tendency toward the problem. Although passive aggressive men are capable of loving, they very often have difficulty trusting the judgment of others, and they have trouble with intimacy. This is extremely frustrating to deal with.

• Intentionally Causing Chaos - If things seem to be going a bit more smoothly than normal, you should be on the lookout for intentional chaos. This can be as minor as a dropped bag of groceries, followed by him blaming you and intentionally picking a fight - or it can be something major.

What To Do If You Are Involved With A Man Who Has These Tendencies

Mild passive-aggressiveness can be difficult to live with, while a severely disordered person can be a nightmare to deal with. Often, people who suffer from the inability to emote normally are the way they are because they were never allowed to express their true feelings as children. They developed a habit of internalizing everything, and they are often filled with repressed feelings of anger and frustration.
Sometimes this leads to emotional, verbal, or physical abuse.

A mental health practitioner can help a person with tendencies toward passive aggression to realize that they are causing damage within their relationships, and over time, can help that person to live a more normal life. If your loved one is willing to accept help then seek the assistance he needs. If not, reevaluate your relationship. You may be happier elsewhere.
